LtCol Change of Command via Bastards’ Quick Pass Down June 2025

June 17, 2025 by 2-4 Admin 1 Comment

From the “Bastards’ Quick Pass Down” June 2025 which we encourage you to check out all 26 pages of events, happenings such as the below Change of Command, the USMC Birthday Ball, local events and 2/4 merchandise.

The Change of Command dominated most of the week’s activities with rehearsals and scheduled parade practises. The only thing busier than the Magnificent Bastards on the parade field were the swallows darting about the area as the little aerial insectivores plucked insects from the air.

Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Holland said his goodbyes to the Marines and Sailors and commended them for their outstanding achievements over the past two years and recent deployment. He thanked the commanders and staff for their combined efforts during his command tour and praised many in attendence for their mentorship and guidance throughout his career. Seahorse
Nation wishes LtCol Holland and his family, “Fair winds and following seas”, as they move on to the next assignment.

LtCol Holland turned over the organizational colors to the new Bastard-6, Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Perry. We welcome him and his family and wish them all the best during his tour with the Magnificent Bastards.

Lieutenant Colonel Matt Perry is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a 2008 graduate of Louisiana State University. He was commissioned in 2008 through the Officer Candidate Course Program.

While at 3/7, he served as a Rifle Platoon Commander and 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander, deploying twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

From 2012 to 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Perry was assigned to 3d Reconnaissance Battalion. During this time, he initially served as a Force Reconnaissance Platoon Commander before assuming command of Force Company in 2014. While stationed in Okinawa, he completed numerous security cooperation exercises throughout the Pacific Area of Operations.

From 2016 to 2017, Lieutenant Colonel Perry was assigned to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as the Operations Officer of 2d Reconnaissance Battalion. From 2017 to 2019, Lieutenant Colonel Perry was reassigned to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he served as the Inspector Instructor and Company Commander of Delta Company, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion.
