Past President James A. Mazy passed away 21 January 2025 with his family around him.
Becky Valdez spoke with Jim Mazy’s daughter Stacy Alexander recently. She said that Jim had been on hospice and passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. She also told me that she and her brother Jimmi were with Jim and he said that four of his friends were sitting right there on the bed and wanted him to come with them. I asked who they were. She replied “Ed Garr, Joe Paul, Tonuchi” and she couldn’t remember the last one. Jimmi told his dad to go ahead and go with them. Jim’s obituary is attached herein for viewing. Jim will be buried March 4th and will have a miliary funeral at The Sarasota National Cemetery in Florida.
Stacy will be doing a live stream at 12:55 EST on Her Facebook.

RIP the brotherhood/sisterhood is for ever grateful
am deeply grieved to learn of Jim’s demise. Jim was an intimate conduit during my recovery while receiving care at the Tomah VA. We served together at some period between 1964 to 1966, and VA counselors introduced him to me because of our shared experiences. We met for the first time since 1966 at the 2/4 New Orleans conference, and we’ve stayed in touch ever since. Jim was definitely a people’s person and an exceptional Marine.
My condolences to his family and friends.
James Parker
RIP Warrior !
